Self Care is Essential

So bare with me while I get a little “sappy”. I am not one to show or admit to weakness or talk about “scary” or hard times in life, but life can’t always be perfect and it’s good to know that you’re not alone.

I have reached the point in my life that I am FINALLY taking care of myself. Years of neglecting myself has lead me to many different realizations.

I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I love to focus on the well-being of the people I love and care about, but in that, I forgot to keep focus on ME to assure that I am able to be the best person I can be to have the ability to take care of others.

I have been eating right and exercising for years now, but that still wasn’t an overall balance for my wellness. Stress and lack of self-care really adds up…. and NOT in a good way.

Life (health-wise) bit me in the butt, showed me that I need to slow down, and reminded me of how important it is to remember my own well-being. Without it, after all, I can’t be around to do what I aim to do; be there for the people I love.

My children and husband, especially, need me and I vow to be the best ME that I can be… for myself… for them…. for US.

It is going to be a continual process, I’m not going to lie. I have to keep reminding myself to take deep breaths, know that I can’t conquer the world in one day, and to remember what REALLY matters in life.

I am thankful to have realized this. I am thankful for the people I have around me. I am thankful for so so much. More importantly, I am thankful for the chance to be thankful.

Here’s to a new chapter of soaking up all that life has to offer!
